Little Client, Big Challenge!

A good friend of mine has a little girl with distinct taste...no tiaras, no princess fluff, no frilly frou-frou.  Miss E likes monsters.  The cute kind of monster...like Ugly Dolls and other silly looking creatures.  She's also into Lord of the Rings, dragons and other very cool stuff.  And, she's 5.  Yep, just 5, but she's all kinds of sophisticated.

So Miss E's mama, called me and said "let's do her room!"  Hooray!  If you're a reader, you know I love little girl rooms that are NOT pink!  I knew Miss E's room would not be pink.  But, the "no pink" thing isn't really a challenge, but then I learned there was an "inspiration piece."  Miss E fell in love with monster bedding and her mama gave in because really...these are good monsters!

So we're starting with a few pieces of monster bedding from Target.  Super cute, super 5-years-old and my tiny client hearts it big time. 

But, Miss E's mama and daddy have taste just as distinctive as their little one so there are bigger clients to please!  Enter the versitile fabric collections from Javis Davis!

I'll be using these fabrics to finish out Miss E's monsterly sophisticated room!  Since the monster bedding has such punch, these saturated stripes will compliment the busy monsters and add some geometry to Miss E's room.

Ultimate Bow Holder!

I'm a sucker for hair bows and luckily Little K has started asking for a hair bow each morning after she gets dressed.  She's definitely my daughter.  I had to match my bow to my socks through middle school and high school.  It was a personal rule.  Oh, and, sometimes I wore a thick ribbon as a belt and that all had to match...hair bow, bow belt and socks.

Anyway, we had this dinky little ribbon tacked on the back of Little K's bedroom door to hold her bows.  It was just not adequate so I made this mac daddy of bow holders!  It we out grow this one, Mama has a bow shopping issue...blame Etsy!

It was quite simple to make.  I got the frame at Michael's, 50% off, and stapled the ribbon to the back.  I made sure to stretch the ribbon as tight as possible.  Using different colors and widths of ribbon gives it some extra ooomph!

Send the Baby to the Spa

It time for baby's first trip to the spa!  The Mod Spa!  Here's a look at the Mod Spa collection from Javis Davis.  Cool blues and soft, milky chocolates make this collection one that will transform a box of a room into a space that soothes.
